Time for some late-night submitting...this time just a smidgen of a piece I started. I've caught an animation bug, and have started two short pieces...one of which includes monsters, of course...and will probably be finished by the end of summer. The other one, which I just did this cycle for, probably won't be finished for a while, knowing me. Anyways, I just finished rough clean-up and was really happy the way it came out, with no reference and just animating straight into flash. I'm definitally getting the hang of traditionally animating in there (but don't worry, I'm not forsaking the pencil and paper!), so I'm really cranking out these bits and pieces faster than before. This one still needs a bit of tweeking, and I made the body more static than usual since he's going to be pulling a heavy fire engine...but you lemme know what you think
***UPDATE***
Wow, dang you guys are good with all those crits. I can't thank all of you enough. Well so I tweaked it a bunch...in all those little annoying bits that you guys pointed out. The rear legs were shortened a bit so now they look more proportional to the front ones. I also think I got that little snap with the bob of the head out (plus I put the bridal on for the fire engine straps...lol don't worry I'll show that soon enough!). I even lengthened the neck and put some motion in the mane and ears. I also conjured up good ol' Muybridge pictures for a good breakdown of a horse gallop, and I actually couldn't find any of the steps off in the animation...so I didn't know what to tweak but I did edit one of the frames for the forelegs....blahblahblah haha...anyways thanks a ton for the help guys, always keep that comin!
I was wondering about the static body! aha! That idea totally works. I can see him pulling an engine. Very nice and fluid. There's alot of character to this run cycle
Disunited, though!
If he's pushing off to start the stride with the right (close to the camera) hind,
the left hind and right fore land next at the same time, then the left fore -
and the left fore is farthest forward in the stride.
As the stride lengthens with speed, there starts to be time between the landings of the
second and third footfalls - in ths case the left hind/right fore.
He looks heavy enough to be in a firetruck team!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
